Importance of the Employee Voice in the Workplace
Introduction
Employee voice is the means by which individual communicate their views
to their employer and influence matters that have an effect on them at work. It
helps to make open and trusting relationships between employers and employees
which may lead to organizational success. For employers, effective voice
contributes to innovation, productivity and organizational improvement. For
employees, it usually leads to raised job satisfaction, larger influence and higher
opportunities for development
Employee
voice has four purposes:
o Helps
organizations to understand the employee attitudes regarding work
o Presents
a spread of collective organization to management
o Influences
leaders’ decisions on work-related problem.
o Shows
the reciprocal nature of the employment relationship.

Conclusions
Employee voice has remained a difficult
concept given different definitions and mechanisms applied by different
managers. Studies on meaning or predicting of voice in organizations are also
elusive. This demand any analysis an equivalent to assist improve its
application in organizations.

Employee voice can be defined as giving opportunities to express the ideas of employees, their concerns, and perspectives with authenticity and without fear of social or workplace consequences. That means employees have the ability to influence decisions at work through their feedback.

According to Jhonstone (2019) employee voice is a synonym for trade union representation. What I believe is voice is a means of enhancing employee commitment and organizational performance rather than trade union representation. As a use of employee voice for the betterment of the organisations, HR representatives can combine employee voice and HR data together in a confidential way and classify patterns that can be used in decision making.
