Gender Equality in the Workplace


Introduction

Gender equality studies have been conducted systematically. In both (Wright , et al., 1995) and (Karus & Yonay, 2000), the authors looked into the gender gap in workplaces across completly different countries and how the way variations within the gaps will be attributed to discrimination against female employees.

 Gender equality in NDB bank

According to the NDB annual report 2020, women make up 66% of overall workforce and Female representation in management roles: 33%. NDB was the first and only organization to obtain the Economics Dividends for Gender Equity certification. The certification followed a rigorous evaluation process and demonstrates the Bank’s commitment towards promoting gender balance at all levels within the organization.

Conclusion

Gender equality refers to the proper of women and men to own an equivalent opportunities for the achievement of vital goals in society like education, employment and financial gain and to contribute to political, social, and cultural development in any respect levels.

  1. I would like to add more to this article.
    Just having equal number of female employees isn't adopting equality. Female representation should be included in each level. According to the Global Gender Gap Report 2020, it will take another 100 years to achieve gender equality based on the current rate of progress. Women often face negative stereotypes in the workplace, so the organization must include policy to make sure that they have zero tolerance for discrimination at the work place.

  2. Author has well explained in Organization, gender equality is the equal treatment and access of female and male employees to opportunities and company resources. This includes employers providing equal opportunities and consideration for promotions; pay raises; desirable, preferred jobs; advancement, and inclusion in decision-making processes.

  3. Workplace gender equality will be achieved when people are able to access and enjoy equal rewards, resources and opportunities regardless of gender. It will require: Workplaces to provide equal pay for work of equal or comparable value. Removal of barriers to the full and equal participation of women in the workforce.

  4. Author has nicely elaborated the gender roles played by employees in their work place,benefits of gender equality and how to promote gender equality . From the past onward the woman was getting oppressed within a patriarchal society and she was considered as a social other.In the 21 st century this notion has been faded away and the gender equality has been stabilized. The importance of gender equality is vividly brought out by the author in a descriptive manner.

  5. Equality in the workplace means equal job opportunities and fairness for employees and job applicants. You must not treat people unfairly because of reasons protected by discrimination law ('protected characteristics'). For example, because of a person's sex, age or race. Author has very well written on this topic gender equality.
